Capital, expertise, and skin in the game
Caban Corporate Advisors is an impact investment and corporate finance advisory firm serving businesses across Sub-Saharan Africa — investing, advising, and connecting African companies to international capital since 2012.

Who we are
Founded in 2012, Caban is part of the Caban Group, with teams in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban and a presence in London. We back businesses that deliver returns across three dimensions at once — financial, social, and environmental. That triple lens is not a marketing position; it is how every investment decision gets made.
What we do
Capital raising. End-to-end raise execution across equity, debt, and grant funding, through our Investor Readiness Programme.
Direct investment. Equity in seed, early, and growth-stage businesses with proven traction and a credible path to scale.
Services for equity. Many strong businesses cannot afford the professional services that would make them investable. We deliver those services on credit in exchange for a minority stake — and only win when the business does.
Corporate finance advisory. M&A, turnaround, pre-IPO preparation, and board strengthening for companies at decision points.
International capital. Through Caban Capital, our UK-facing division, we connect African businesses with UK and European investors for raises, acquisitions, and restructurings.
How we invest
Every potential investment goes through due diligence against our triple-impact criteria: capable founders, a real market, and a model where growth produces measurable social or environmental benefit alongside financial return. We stay involved after investment — board-level guidance and operational support, not just a cheque.
Our impact model
Through QEI Holdings, created with the Atlantis Dream Team, communities invest in — and earn dividends from — the businesses growing around them. Selected NGOs hold shares in Caban directly, and the Caban Foundation funds education and healthcare initiatives across South Africa. More on the impact model →
Leadership
Caban is chaired by Dr Ruben Richards, with Dave Romero — a professional accountant with listed-company chairmanship experience — as Group CEO, and Ben Botes — an entrepreneur and investor with more than two decades of company-building and multiple exits across Africa — as Managing Director.
